    Oral Health: A Communicative Journey

    By Ramy Bahu, DDS | Blog | Comments are Closed | 30 September, 2019 | 0

Communication is an important component of any relationship.  At Ramy Bahu, DDS-Aesthetic & Reconstructive Dental Associates, a good relationship with our patients is of the utmost importance.  We strive to ensure that any preventative care, treatment, and procedures are fully explained so that you understand exactly what to expect.  But did you know that what you share with us impacts the success of your visit?  The more we are aware of any health concerns, oral discomfort, or anxiety the better we can assist you.

    What To Tell Your Dentist…

    … About Your Teeth

When you come for cleaning and/or checkup, or even to update your dental crowns, we will always check for signs of oral health issues.  But making us aware of things you have noticed will help us as well.  Let us know if you:

    • Noticed any changes in your mouth/teeth
    • Experiencing any sensitivity or pain
    • Noticed discomfort in specific areas of the mouth
    • Suspect you have a cavity
    • Noticed any lumps or bumps in your mouth
    • Have any ongoing or recurring sores in the mouth
    • Have any questions or concerns about your teeth

    … About Your General Health

Your oral health is closely connected to your overall well-being.  Your physical health status may increase your risk of some oral health issues, or impact the kinds of treatment approaches and procedures we choose.  The more we know, the better we can serve your oral health needs.  Let us know if you are:

    • Taking any new medications, have ceased taking medication or have had a change in medication dosage
    • Have been diagnosed with any conditions or diseases
    • Experiencing any health issues or concerns, even if a formal diagnosis hasn’t taken place
    • Pregnant

    …About Your Feelings

At Ramy Bahu, DDS-Aesthetic & Reconstructive Dental Associates we understand that for some people, the dentist chair is a scary place to be.  Although you may feel shy or embarrassed about your fears, it’s important that we know how you are feeling.  We will do everything we can to alleviate your concerns and make you as comfortable as possible.  Tell us about:

    • Previous bad experiences
    • Anxieties and fears about the dentist or a procedure
    • Nerves or phobias that you have
    • Your stress levels (both in general and about the appointment)

What You Can Expect From Us

We value your openness and appreciate that the information you share with us is personal and private.  We will:

    • Keep all medical and personal information strictly confidential
    • Answer any questions and discuss concerns
    • Discuss treatment options
    • Communicate what is happening before, during and after a procedure
    • Provide information regarding prevention, risks, recovery, etc.
    • Prescribe medication when deemed necessary
    • Help calm nerves, and discuss alternative approaches if needed

At Ramy Bahu, DDS-Aesthetic & Reconstructive Dental Associates we will do our best to provide stress-free care to make your visit as relaxing as possible.  We hope to develop and maintain a positive relationship with open communication in order to provide comprehensive care.  Together we will keep your smile shining bright.
